The Pros

The Samsung’s Android Tab is a major challenger to Apple iPad with two cameras with similar Flash and a more commodious size

The Cons

The Tab is more like a bigger Android phone than a Net book substitute. The Android OS and its application is not optimized to handle large screens

Although Galaxy Tab is a good product with features similar to iPad but its mediate size and carrier commitments and in-between size

Since April 2010, with Apple iPad launch, leading competitors are trying to fit in with competitive tablet alternatives with there varied physical appearance. However Samsung has designed the most competitive one, an unbeatable product for the region in terms of both shape and features. Its tab screen measures 7 inches and has Android 2.2 OS. The US Carrier like AT&T, Verizon, T-mobile & Sprint offers a price range of $399 and $499 with two different Tab versions and different payment plans.

Tablet’s design

The screen is half the size of Apple ipad with 1024*600 pixel density tightened which can fit easily in the pocket. The screen of the tablet uses a multi touch technology at par with Apple ipad in both response time and utility. Samsung has two cameras one front facing above the screen with 1.3 mega pixel and 3 mega pixels camera at the rear. It has android-style menu task bar along with headphone jack on top, volume & power buttons on side, pair of built-in speakers and Samsung Dock connectors on the bottom.

Overall, Samsung Tab functions like big Android smart phone with no physical support needed unlike Apple ipad for which you need a table or support it on your lap.

Tablet’s Features

Samsung GT is also popular for its physical appearance i.e. short and convenient

It has latest Android 2.2 experience inclusive of all related applications along with market support. Built-in accelerometer sensor which reorients the screen with the way we hold the tab is a excellent option. Also available is an optimized applications like contacts, calendar & memo for a better view and facility of sliding screens sideways as needed.

One of the unbeatable advantages tab has is its Adobe Flash 10.1 capability, allowing all the web’s Flash video content.

Tablet’s Overall performance

With bundle of technologies working like Flash video playback, GPS and Bluetooth the battery back up can obviously get low rating. However if one uses basic features like Web browsing, email etc and pulling off GPS, Bluetooth and 3G can help in getting as much as 7 hours of battery life with active Wi-Fi.

Samsung’s age on expertise of creating high standards of portable media players is evident in this tablet. So the performance of audio, video and photos are equally competitive.

All in all it’s a great product especially from the portability aspect and comparatively an ipad lacks Adobe Flash support, video camera, memory expansion and drag –drop file support. This is certainly an advantage for the Samsung Galaxy Tablet. So I would rate it as a five star product and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a tablet.
